the "red pill" for entrepreneurs 💊

Growth or stagnancy? You're always choosing one of them.

It's easy to imagine how your business could transform your life…

...it could bring you financial abundance, help you create an impact in the world, and give you more freedom.

But have you ever stopped to think about how your business could transform you?

I started my first real business 8 years ago, and phew...if you could have met me back then you would think we were two different people. And it's not just because I've gotten older...it's because of who my business has helped me become.

See, it was only a few years ago that…

  • I was hustling for my worth. I'd work long days, pile new projects onto my plate like I was at an all-you-can-eat buffet, and constantly teeter on the brink of burnout because deep down, I thought I had to run myself ragged in order to be worthy.

  • My finger hovered over the "Go Live" button before my first livestream class to my community. It took me weeks to muster up enough courage to actually push that button because I was terrified of failing. "What if I rambled and made no sense? What if someone asked a question and I didn't know the answer?"

  • I was working in my business by myself, doing the job of 17 people because "no one else will do it as well as me," which was really code for, "I don't know how to trust others enough to support me."

Do any of those ring true for you? Anything else you're resisting in your business?

Blogger, your business is constantly presenting you with two options: Will you choose growth? Or will you choose to stay where you are?

You always have an option, and you're always choosing.

Will you heal the wound that made you think you had to overcomplicate your business in order to be worthy of success? Or will you keep peddling overwhelm like it's going out of style?

Will you release the scarcity mindset that's keeping you from charging what your courses and services are really worth? Or will you continue lowballing your prices, wondering why your business growth is inching along so slowly?

Will you keep choosing the lonely path of trying to "prove" yourself because no one in your life "gets" what your business is about? Or will you intentionally seek out a community who encourages your growth?

You don't HAVE TO choose growth and healing. You could choose to live with the same ineffective patterns you've endured all your life. But I can tell you from personal experience: there are better ways to live.

I don't mean to go all Morpheus on you (yes, yes I do), but you quite literally have a choice: will you take the red pill or the blue pill?

Blue Pill: You shut your eyes to all the ways your unhealed patterns are sabotaging your business growth -- the scarcity thinking, approval seeking, and overwhelm creating. When your business results stagnate, you feel shame, blame, and frustration. Rinse. Repeat.

Red Pill: You wake up to all the ways you've been the one getting in your own way all along. You consciously choose to heal your ineffective patterns, gain deep confidence in yourself, and see the incredible level of possibility that surrounds you. Abundance, freedom, and inner peace are not only possible, but probable.

Blogger, we ALL have ineffective patterns that are blocking us from the growth, joy, and abundance we want to experience.

So, if anything in this email stings for you, then know that you're not alone. Not by a long shot.

From my perspective, the point of life is to grow. To heal from the limiting beliefs and programming that keep us playing small. To align with our most authentic selves.

And the best part? Once you prioritize your personal growth -- and especially with the support of a community behind you -- your business growth literally begins to feel effortless. It's like someone finally gave you the keys to a door you've been pounding on your whole life.

That's why I'm incredibly passionate about my Aligned Abundance Mastermind, which is opening to new members very soon.

AAM is the Red Pill. It will wake you up. Help you heal. Show you how to become the brightest, most abundant version of YOU.

...All while teaching you all the 6- and 7-figure business strategies you could ever need.

Melyssa

Let’s talk money

Hi Blogger!

You may have noticed that I haven't put out a new episode on the Limitless Life podcast in awhile — and that's because I wanted to give more voice to social justice conversations and Black creators during these past few weeks. I also want to let you know that this week won't be the last time you hear me talk about Black Lives Matter.

Next week, I'll be releasing an extensive plan on how our company will be embodying anti-racism in a bigger way and the actions we plan to take to keep this movement at the forefront of what we do and who we are.

And in the meantime, I'm bringing the podcast back TODAY with a brand new episode with my friend and Money Mindset Expert, Allyson Byrd! Allyson came to speak at my Mastermind retreat earlier this year, and I was blown away by her wisdom and energy, and I couldn't wait to get her as a guest on the podcast.

And before I tell you all about what she has to share, I want you to imagine something with me, Blogger.

Let's pretend you're eight, and you're walking through the park with your parent on a beautiful sunny day. It's warm, and you're so happy to be outside spending time together!

As you pass through the park, you see an ice cream stand. You immediately run to it and see they have your FAVORITE type of ice cream. You ask your parent if you can have some, and your parent asks the man at the stand how much it costs.

"Seven dollars for a cone," he says.

You're so excited — you can practically taste the ice cream already!

"Seven dollars? That's ridiculous," your parent scoffs. They pull you away. "We're not spending $7 on ice cream. We'll get some at the grocery. It's $2 there. That was way too expensive for ice cream."

Your excitement begins to fade. You don't really like the ice cream at the grocery store. But you stay quiet, because you don't want your parent to be upset. They seemed really stressed about that $7!

Later in the day, you remember that ice cream and how much you wanted it. But you quickly dismiss the memory, because now, you feel a little guilty. Your mind is telling you this isn't okay — that wanting something that's expensive is wrong.

And that thought consciously or unconsciously permeates through your mind over the next few weeks, months, and years. You probably have other experiences to back up that same thought.

And now, this thought starts to turn into a belief. And the belief might say:

"I cannot afford the things I want. It's not okay for me to want more."

And that, Blogger, is now a money belief that sits in your subconscious and impacts the way you see making and spending money.

Crazy, right?!

Now what if I told you that your money mindset doesn't just come from your parents — but comes from your great grandparents and beyond!

I know — that's exactly how I felt when Allyson broke that down for me on this week's episode of Limitless Life.

Allyson (a.k.a. the Profit Accelerator™) is a Money Mindset Expert who helped tens of thousands of business owners across the world — and her take on money is going to blow your MIND!

On today's episode, she shares why money is the left behind topic that so many people avoid working on when it comes to their mindset, why people say they "don't want to be rich" and the impact that has on our lives, and how we are conditioned to make decisions about what we want.

Check out her interview here!

Our money mindset has such a massive impact on the way we live. It determines how we think and feel about how much money we can / should make, what we should do with our money, and even how we FEEL about money as a topic.

I can't wait to hear what you uncover today while you reflect on your money beliefs and see what's truly possible for you!

All Love,
Melyssa

P.S. If you've been tuning into the podcast regularly, then you know every few episodes, share a private coaching call, where I coach digital business owners of all levels on how their mindset is getting in the way of their success or joy.

I messed up + I apologize (re: yesterday’s email)

Hey Blogger,

Yesterday I sent you an email with a subject that said, "How do I speak up about racism as a white person?" Within the email, I spoke directly to my white subscribers and shared links to resources for white people about how to begin doing anti-racism work. I've since received several email responses letting me know that by centering my email solely on white people and ignoring my BIPOC subscribers, I caused harm to the BIPOC folks who received that email and the social justice movement as a whole.

First, thank you to each person who chose to put in the labor of emailing me to call out my white bias. I know it's not your job to teach me, but your emails gave me a tremendous opportunity to learn, and for that I am truly grateful. Thank you. I'm responding to each of your emails individually, but I also wanted to send out an apology to my entire community, and take responsibility for the pain I caused.

I completely understand now how my email ignored the BIPOC folks who are in this community, which is not only deeply hurtful, but reinforces the destructive narrative that white people are "the norm" and people of color are forgotten and unseen. Not only do I want to create an inclusive space for BIPOC at all times, but to ignore the black people in my community at a moment in history like this is literally contributing to the problem. I am SO sorry.

I recognize that I have plenty of work to do when it comes to learning about social justice and being a trustworthy ally in action, and I deeply apologize for causing any harm or making you feel like you don't matter. I'm committed to doing better, excavating my internal blind spots and biases, and continuing to educate myself about social justice and systemic racism now and moving forward.

Thank you so much for being here. <3

With love and humility,
Melyssa

p.s. For anyone who wants to learn alongside me, these are some of the people I have been learning from recently and I recommend following them, taking their courses, and reading their books:

How do I speak up about racism as a white person?

Hey Blogger,

Angela Davis said, "In a racist society, it is not enough to be non-racist, we must be anti-racist." To me, this quote highlights the fact that we can't consider ourselves part of the solution if we are staying silent about racism -- we have to be actively and vocally against it.

You've probably seen that we are undergoing a massive revolution when it comes to racial injustice. In your heart, you may want to speak up, but you might not know how to do so or what to say.

I recently asked my Instagram followers what is holding them back from speaking up during such a critical time and I received responses like…

  • "I don't feel like I know enough to share helpful information. I don't want to just repeat someone else."
  • "I'm afraid to say the wrong thing."
  • "As a white person, I'm not fully aware yet what I can do."
  • "What do you do if you're not American? I want to help, but I feel like it's not my place."
  • "I'm afraid of being shamed or criticized for my lack of knowledge and experiences."

As a white woman myself, I can empathize with how you're feeling -- the fear, shame, guilt, and confusion about where to begin. But as Desmond Tutu said, "If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor."

If you are new to this work, but want to learn more, I compiled a medley of guided resources to help you educate yourself on systemic racism, white privilege, and how you can begin to take action and be part of the solution.

You can check out the free guide right here!

This guide includes definitions that are important to know, links to helpful articles and books, anti-racist educators to follow, and more. Virtually all of the resources in this guide were created by black and BIPOC leaders (not myself) because their voices are the ones we should be listening to most right now.

I wanted to create this guide because I noticed that so many people in my community want to speak up, but don't know how, and are overwhelmed with where to start. I hope this guide helps you to begin your journey to understanding the complexities of racism and how you can begin to dismantle it within yourself and the world around you.

And if you'd like to hear more about my personal perspectives on what's happening in the world right now, I share frequently in my Instagram Stories (you can check the Social Justice highlight for past stories, too).

If you identify as a white person, I believe that the first step is to educate yourself. Read the definitions in the guide. Read the suggested books. Follow people who are speaking up and learn from them.

Click here to check out the free guide to learn more about anti-racism work.

Please feel free to share this guide wherever you'd like. I encourage you to share it with white friends, family members, and your communities. No credit to me is needed.

I'm also going to be matching donations up to $5,000 total to organizations that are supporting black lives and racial justice.

Some of my favorites:

In order for your donation to be matched, please donate to one of the organizations above, screenshot your receipt, and send it to me in an email response. I will match it!

I know this email is different than what I normally send you, but it matters tremendously. Your voice is needed. Your self-education is needed. It's time to stand up for a better world. <3

Love,
Melyssa

"Create With Confidence" Challenge Starts Tomorrow! 🔥

Hey Blogger!

I noticed you haven't grabbed your spot inside my new 5-day Create with Confidence challenge -- and we start tomorrow!

Did ya forget? Sign up here before it's too late.

And if you have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about, here's a quick refresher :)

I'm hosting a free, 5-day challenge called Create with Confidence to help you stop procrastinating and finally take action on The Thing you've been avoiding (a.k.a. that project you REALLY want to do, but are too nervous to take on).

If you're someone who feels like…

  • You're busy doing All. The. Things. in your biz except for the thing you really want to be doing.
  • An imposter. Everyone else seems so much more qualified!
  • If you knew things would turn out well, you'd show up differently. You just need some assurance!

… then this challenge has your name all over it,  Blogger!

I'm going to be sharing methods for saying F-it to fear and creating a plan to achieve your goals that you'll actually follow through on.

And yes -- I've seen creators take MASSIVE action in their business after going through these exercises!

Here's what's waiting for you inside:

  • 5 days of content and action items to help you identify The Thing you want to do and take aligned action toward it
  • A daily workbook for journaling and brainstorming texted right to your phone
  • Live group coaching in my intimate Facebook community to help you get unstuck and move forward every single day
  • Text messages from yours truly (I will seriously text with you! As soon as you register, I will send you my personal phone number!)

So my only question to you is… what have you been putting off that you'd love to pursue? In just 5 days, I have a feeling you'll be in a much different place than you are now.

Join us before we kick things off tomorrow.

I can't wait to find out what you create when you start living in your confidence instead of your fear. <3

See you soon!

xoxo
Melyssa
